Adaire to Dance presented 3Fold at the Bakewell Arts Festival, with a view to demonstrating the diversity of contemporary dance.
I performed in Deuce, a comedic quartet based around an overly competitive amateur tennis match, and Spare a Minute a much darker piece displaying the ever changing nature of relationships which was choreographed in collaboration with the dancers.
Both pieces embraced the use of character in contributing to the performance. Deuce purposefully telling more of a story, whereas Spare a Minute allows some events to play out, but the audience are left to decide what this means for the individuals concerned.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing with character so directly as part of the movement choice and interpretation, as well as pushing the boundaries of what is physically achievable in the intense finale of Spare a Minute.
